Kaizer Chiefs are believed to have completed the signing of DR Congo striker Glody Makabi Lilepo from the French side Valenciennes fc.
According to the latest reports, Glody Makabi Lilepo costed Kaizer Chiefs R9.6 Million and will join the club once he has completed the medical test.
It was revealed that the player was also targeted by European clubs, including French Ligue 2 clubs, however, he opted to play for the Soweto giants and will be looking to help the struggling side.
FarPost reported that the Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi was interested in signing the player when he was still at the Tanzanian side, Yanga Africans while the player was still at the Sudanese side, Al Hilal.
Glody Makabi Lilepo is the 2nd Kaizer Chiefs signing in the January transfer window as they have already sealed a deal with Supersport united for their striker Tashreeq Morris, which was a swap deal involving Christian Saile.
Amakhosi decided to part ways with Christian Saile after just few years in order to gain space for a new foreign spot. That space has now been closed by the DR Congo striker Glody Makabi Lilepo.
WHO IS GLODY MAKABI LILEPO?
Glody Makabi Lilepo is a 27-year-old player who was born in a place called Kinshasa, which is in DR Congo. He can play as a striker, and also as a right winger.
He has been a promising player and has already played for five clubs in a professional level.
GLODY MAKABI LILEPOʼS FOOTBALL CAREER
The 27-year-old started his football career at the DR Congo giants, AS Vita. The club loaned him to the Swaziland giants, Mbabane swallows back July 2018 so that he can gain more experience.
His long-term loan deal with the Swaziland giants came to an end, the player returned to his parent club AS Vita. Unfortunately, the club decided to release him and became a free-agent.
That is when the player joined another DR Congo club, FC Renaissance on a one-year deal. After his contract came to an end in June 2019, the player returned to AS Vita.
He spent just two years at AS Vita, he was sold to the Sudanese side, Al Hilal. The player was sold to Al Hilal for a fee which is believed to be around €200k.
One year later, the player was on a move once again. Glody Makabi Lilepo was sold to the French third-tier side, Valenciennes for a fee which was around €478k.
The player was part of the Valenciennes team that was relegated back in 2023-24 Season from French Ligue 2. They were relegated after collecting only 29 points in 38 games.
When the club was relegated, the Kaizer Chiefs new signing only scored two goals in 27 appearances. He is yet to score in the league this season, however, he has already made nine appearances at the French side.
Despite failing to score in the league this season, however, the player has already scored four goals in just five games at the Coupe De France this season.
He joins Kaizer Chiefs with a pressure to hit the ground running as the club is struggling to convert this season.
