Libyan giants Al ittihad are believed to have shown interest in signing Kaizer Chiefs out-of-favour defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe.
According to the latest reports, the Botswana national team captain and defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe could be on his way out at the Glamour Boys as the club is currently negotiating with Al ittihad about the player.
The January transfer window will close on the 17th of February in Libya and Al ittihad are hoping to seal the deal before the deadline date.
Since the arrival of Rushwin Dortley and Inacio Miguel, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe has been used mostly as a left-back, rather than a center back. He has also been facing a tough competition from Bradley Croos in that left-back position.
The player has been able to step up whenever he is introduced by Nasreddine Nabi and is trusted by Kaizer Chiefs supporters.
It will be a huge blow for both the club and supporters if Thatayaone Ditlhokwe ends up leaving in the January transfer window and the club will be forced to rely on Bradley Croos and Happy Mashiane in that left-back position.
The 26-year-old joined Amakhosi back in July 2023 after his contract expired at Supersport united. Despite the Tshwane giants not happy with releasing the player on a free transfer as he was considered as one of the key players at the club, they had no choice as he was not willing to sign a new deal with the club.
Al ittihad are currently sitting in the 4th position in the log and are hoping to move to the top 3 so that they can proceed to the next stage of the competition. They have already won the league 19 times and are labeled as the giants of Libya.
THATAYAONE DITLHOKWEʼS FOOTBALL CAREER
Thatayaone Ditlhokwe was born on the 28th of September 1998. He is from a place called Gulubane in Botswana.
He started his football career at Gaborone united before moving to the Botswana giants, Township rollers. The player signed a deal with Township rollers back in July 2018 and was able to attract interest from several clubs including the Betway Premiership giants Supersport united.
Supersport united eventually signed the player in January 2020 for undisclosed fee. Ever since he joined the club, he was one of the key players at the club.
The player was given an armband at Supersport united as he was a great leader at the Tshwane side.
It was unfortunate for the club not to reach an agreement with the player three years later on a new contract. It was reported that Amakhosi offered him a way better contract, which led to the player joined the club for free.
Thatayaone Ditlhokwe has made just nine league appearances for the club this season and also just one appearance in Carling cup competition.
Unfortunately, Kaizer Chiefs finished just outside the top 8 last season and were unable to participate in the MTN8 Cup competition.
The current market value of Thatayaone Ditlhokwe is €850k. He is one of the most valuable players at Kaizer Chiefs and the club will pocket some real amount of money for the player.
