Former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder George Maluleka has finally found himself a new club after parting ways with Amazulu at the end of last season.
According to the newly promoted Motsepe Foundation Championship side, Kruger united, George Maluleka has signed a contract with the club ahead of the new season.
The club revealed that the well-experienced midfielder signed a one-year contract with them which has an option to extend by further one year.
Signing Maluleka is a major deal for the newly promoted side as they are looking to survive the relegation and hopefully gain yet another promotion to the top flight.
After drawing against Hungry lions, losing against Durban city and winning against Pretoria Callies this season, Kruger united are now sitting in the 9th position in the Motsepe Foundation Championship table.
Milford united are currently the club that are sitting on top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship table with seven points, however, Durban city are also in the second points and has equal points with Milford united.
Leruma united who were also promoted along with Kruger united at the end of last season, are sitting on the bottom of the table as they have lost all their first three games of the competition.
GEORGE MALULEKAʼS FOOTBALL CAREER
The 35-year-old has had an interesting career in the top flight as he has only played in South Africa as he has now played for seven clubs in the country including Kruger united.
Before signing his first professional contract, he represented Kempton Park fc and University of Pretoria in the development level.
After playing for the University of Pretoria development team, he was then rewarded with the professional contract back in July 2006.
A year later he signed with Supersport united, one of the biggest clubs in South Africa. Unfortunately, the club released him after just spending two years at the club.
He joined Ajax Cape Town (now known as Cape Town Spurs), where he was able to showcase his talent along with the likes of Khama Billiat.
Three years after signing with Ajax Cape Town, Supersport united decided to re-sign the player as they believed he has gained a lot of experience in the top flight.
Kaizer Chiefs managed to seal the deal with Supersport united back in January 2014 for the player.
The 35-year-old spent most of his football career at Kaizer Chiefs and was a regular starter, however, things went south in 2020 as the player failed to reach an agreement Amakhosi over a new contract.
He ended up joining Kaizer Chiefsʼ arch-rivals, Mamelodi Sundowns, in 2020. Joining Mamelodi Sundowns from Kaizer Chiefs caused a lot of conflict between Mido and the Glamour boys supporters.
Signing with Mamelodi Sundowns from Kaizer Chiefs as a free-agent in July 2020 as labeled as a downfall for George Maluleka as the supporters felt he has no place at the club.
Indeed the player struggled at Masandawana for game-time and was able to make only 19 appearances in two years for the club, scoring just one goal.
At Kaizer Chiefs, Mido made 169 appearances and was able to score eleven goals while registering 24 assists.
