Kaizer Chiefs newly appointed head coach Nasreddine Nabi has promised the clubʼs supporters that they will fight for the Carling Black Label Cup this season.
Carling Black Label Cup is a league cup that has been launched not so long ago and Kaizer Chiefs want to write their name in the cup this season.
Despite trying to find the right team, Nasreddine Nabi believes that will not stop them from challenging the cup as they are strong mentally.
Amakhosi visited Supersport united with an aim of proceeding to the quarter-finals on Saturday evening. It all went well for the Glamour boys as they cruised past Gavin Huntʼs Supersport united.
Kaizer Chiefs welcomed back Gaston Sirino after the player suffered an injury before the international break. The Uruguayan midfielder played a huge role in Kaizer Chiefsʼ victory over Supersport united.
Gaston Sirino was the player who scored the first goal of the match, which was a stunner, just outside the box, registering his second goal of the season for Kaizer Chiefs.
Yusuf Maart scored the second goal of the match, assisted by Gaston Sirino in the second half, just over 50 minutes since the game began.
In-form Ranga Chivaviro was the player to register his name in the scoring sheet once again as he scored the third goal of the match. Wandile Duba was the player who assisted Ranga Chivaviro on the 73rd minute.
As it looked like the match was already over, the Tunisian born coach Nasreddine Nabi decided to replace Ranga Chivaviro, Yusuf Maart and Gaston Sirino for Ashley Du Preez, Mfundo Vilakazi and Edson Castillo respectively as he was aiming to rest the goal scorers for the upcoming match.
Former Lamontville Golden Arrows attacker Pule Mmodi and Njabulo Ngcobo were also brought in later for Wandile Duba and Mduduzi Shabalala respectively.
Ashley Du Preez scored the forth goal of the match, putting the game to bed in the additional time. Gaston Sirino was then named the Man Of The Match, walking away with a whooping R100 000.
NABI MAKES A PROMISE TO CHIEFS FAITHFUL SUPPORTERS
When Nasreddine Nabi spoke to the media, he assured Kaizer Chiefs supporters that they are fighting to lift the Carling Black Label Cup, ending the clubʼs 9-year trophy drought.
Nabi also reminded Amakhosi supporters that they are still building the club and it is almost impossible to deliver instant results under that circumstance. Despite trying to build the club, however, Amakhosi will be looking to deliver best results for their supporters.
Former Yanga African coach revealed that he has been watching Kaizer Chiefs supporters for some time now and already know their weaknesses, which made things a little bit easier when he arrived at the club during the Pre-season preparation.
Nabi further revealed that they are still trying to build confidence in senior players so that they can have a positive impact on their youngsters.
After defeating Supersport united, Kaizer Chiefs join Marumo Gallants, Mamelodi Sundowns, Cape Town City, Stellenbosch and Magesi FC who have already qualified for the Carling Black Label Cup quarter-finals.
Amakhosi will face Supersport united once again in the Betway Premiership next weekend, where they will be looking to continue where they left off.
