Orlando Pirates in-form attacking midfielder Relebohile Mofokeng is believed to have turned down an offer from the Egyptian giants during the winter transfer window.
According to the latest reports, Al Ahly saw their mouthwatering offer for Relebohile Mofokeng rejected due to the play not interested in switching from Orlando Pirates to another African club.
The 20-year-old has been undoubtedly the best player at Orlando Pirates since last season, which has made him draw attention from plenty of clubs around the world.
He was heavily linked with a move to the development team of Barcelona during the summer transfer window. Unfortunately, the big move did not materialize.
The Egyptian giants, Al Ahly, were one of the clubs who were knee on signing the top midfielder but were quickly rejected. It was further revealed that Al Ahly were surprised by Relebohileʼs decision and have now closed the door for the player and are not willing to negotiate further.
Reports also reveals that another Egyptian club, Zamalek SC, also made an offer for the player on a deadline day but were also rejected by the player.
The player’s agent stated that their plan is for the player to move abroad instead of playing for top clubs in Africa. It is just a matter of time before the player joins a new club in Europe as he has been praised in the media and he still continues to shine.
Relebohile Mofokeng has so far contributed in six goals in the Betway Premiership for the Buccaneers. He has two goals and also four assists in 14 matches. In the MTN8 Cup, he was one of the best players in the competition as he scored two goals and also registered two assists in just four games.
The 20-year-old is currently in sitting in the 3rd position of the top goal scorers in the CAF Champions League with three goals and also two assists. The top goal scorer in the CAF Champions League competition at the moment is the Egyptian attacking midfielder Emam Ashour.
RELEBOHILE MOFOKENGʼS FOOTBALL CAREER
The talented midfielder is actually the product of Transnet school of Excellence. He was playing for the development team before signing with Orlando Pirates development team back in August 2022.
He played just one season in the development team of Orlando Pirates before joining the senior team. Since joining the Orlando Pirates team, Mofokeng has been doing wonders and has received national call-up plenty of times from Hugo Broos.
The market value of Relebohile Mofokeng is currently €1.2 million, making him one of the most valuable players in the Betway Premiership.
He is actually ranked in the 16th position in the Betway Premiership market value, according to Transfermarkt. His value is equal with his teammates Monnapule Saleng and Tapelo Xoki.
Relebohile Mofokeng has already won three trophies with Orlando Pirates since he joined the senior team. He has two MTN8 Cups and also a Nedbank Cup, which he won last season.
